Manila: Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the military and police for AirLift Covid-19 vaccines throughout the country’s provinces to cut “Gridlocks” in the distribution of Jab which he faced in the regional government.
While almost 90 percent of adults in the capital area are fully vaccinated, only around 35 percent of adults in this country have both Jab.
“(Inventory) will no longer pass through the provincial government because it will become another Gridlock,” Duterte said at a meeting with a pandemic advisor on Tuesday which was broadcast Wednesday.
Duterte has leaned a lot on armed services to fight a pandemic.
They enforce one of the most severe locking in the world and transport medical equipment throughout the country and internationally.
“After giving birth by plane and arrival in (vaccine operation center), the helicopter there will take over.
They will be the person who leads them to the city government,” the President said.
“The armed forces have the ability of the elevator,” Military spokesman Colonel Ramon Zagala told AFP Wednesday.
At the same meeting on Tuesday, Carlito Galvez, the Head of the Covid-19 Task Force, acknowledged that the regional government needed to “increase their capacity” to inject more people per day or “get their cold chain system” to save more vaccines.
Francisco Duque Health Secretary told Duterte Coronavirus cases on the “drop trend” throughout the country after the peak of September.
The government eased several pandemic restrictions in October, opening cinemas and fitness centers in the capital and allowed higher capacity in restaurants and public transportation.
On Wednesday the government launched a vaccine for 12.7 million young people aged 12-17.
