Geneva: Roger Federer said Friday the return time to court is still uncertain, just a few weeks in front of the US Open, but the tennis legend remains optimistic after aged 40 years.
Federer, who just played in 2021, after exiting for more than a year with two knee operations, pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics and the next tournament to rest his knees.
After 40 years old, Sunday, Federer said he was studying to adjust to the fact that the recovery of Niggles took two weeks than two days.
The US Open was underway on August 30 but Federer did not say whether he would take part in the four majors in the past year.
“I’m fine.
I’m on vacation.
I haven’t done anything because of my knees.
I have to stop everything after Wimbledon,” he told the Blick newspaper.
“This week, I have to meet my doctor and team, and then we will see what happens next.
For now, everything is still rather uncertain.” Federer reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals but left the Tokyo match and then resigned from ATP Toronto and Cincinnati Masters – the last major reception for the US Open.
Federer said it was difficult to deal with uncertainty.
“That’s different before.
The question is simple: What is my place in rank? What will be the next tournament?”, He said.
“Today, it’s more difficult: How do I feel when I start practicing again? What is my purpose? How do I reconcile all this with your family? What are the other team members say?” I was far more enthusiastic than before, the previous, different attitude.
This is completely different from 10 years ago.
“Federer is a grand slam champion 20 times, a record he shared with his younger rival Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Sports stars said he celebrated his birthday personally with his family and friends, and felt very good the next day.
“I woke up in the morning when I was 40 years old and realized that everything was still the same as the previous day.
I feel relieved, “he said.” I was only 40 and I was still active.
Who will believe it? Of course it’s not me.
I really in harmony with myself and I’m sure there are still many great things to come.
