Rohtak: Wrestler Seema Bisla from the village of Gudhan Haryana’s Rohtak is one of the Indian medals hoping for the Tokyo Olympics.
His father, former Kabaddi player in the area, who fought with throat cancer, wanted his daughter to dream of Fulfilhis to win the Olympic medal.
Seema has confirmed the ticket to Tokyo after winning gold at 50kg of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Bulgaria, being the fourth female wrestler to close the quota for the Olympics.
The youngest of the four sisters, Seema began to wrestle at the age of seven in his village.
In a matter of days, Seema took the ins and outs of sports and moved to the city of Rohtak to continue training under the eyes that witnessed his brother-in-law, Nafe Singh, Ace player in his time.
His father Azad Singh, who has three hectares of agricultural land, is a famous Kabbadi player in the area, but he cannot get to the international level.
Azad Singh said when he saw his talent and his daughter’s desires, wrestling, he hoped he would make his country proud one day.
In 2004, Seema joined the local Akhara and then moved to Gurugram to train under the parmjeet Yadav where he gained confidence and the opportunity to play with better players and sharpen his skills.
“The coach changed his destiny and wrestling career,” Azad Singh said.
“I brought Seema for training .Sushila (Seema’s sister) said she took care of her sister like a mother by caring for training, diet, and education since nine years old.” That was my father’s dream to represent India at the Olympics.
The facilities and support were inadequate in village settings, so I took Seema to my house to facilitate the training as a professional wrestler.
My husband Nafe Singh, a wrestler, played an important role in forming his career, “he added.
Meeting his family’s dream, the 28-year-old child won gold at the Commonwealth Championship in 2018.
Before that, he had won a bronze medal in the 2009 Asian cadet championship in Pune, And it was declared ‘Bharat Kesri’ in 2018 and 2019.
He then went to a bronze bag in the world championship.
He was appointed as officers on the train, but then joined as coaches at the Haryana Department of Sports.
