Gurgaon: The problem of traffic congestion at Kanhai intersection can be completed immediately, with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to build a rotary at the intersection to streamline the movement of the vehicle.
According to GMDA officials, regardless of rotary, 2m-wide cycle lines and 1.5m wide channels and trails will also be developed along the intersection.
The entire project is expected to cost around Rs 2 Crore and the settlement will take six months after the work begins.
“This is not an area where there is so much traffic that cannot be managed.
To streamline traffic, we will build a rotary of 30m, or a circle, at point-t so that the signal free stretch and the entire traffic flows through the rotary,” said an official Senior GMDA.
Kanhai’s intersection is one of the most important traffic intersections in the city, where the vehicle comes from the direction of St Thomas Marg and the golf course joining those traveling from the direction of the Huda City Center and Road Sohna.
Revamp intersection, also known as the intersection of sector 44, 45 and 52, has emerged at the GMDA core planning committee meeting in July.
At that time, the GMDA chief executive had directed the mobility division to speed up the work at the intersection.
“The separate slip road for the left turn will also be developed at the intersection, along with cycle lines and paths.
Repair is being carried out by considering vehicle traffic requirements, and pedestrians and those who use non-motorized transportation,” GMDA officials said, added that The current authority has invited bids for projects via e-tender.
“It will take around six months to complete the project after construction begins,” Officially added.
