Tartu (Estonia): Kalle Rovanpera, Finn 20 years old, became the youngest winner in the world of championship rally when she took the estonian rally on Sunday.
Rovanpera defeated Craig Craig for almost a minute and broke another finn record, Jari-Matti Latvala, now his boss at Toyota, who was 22 years old when he won his first victory in Sweden in 2008.
Former Skoda driver, who lives in Estonia, joined his father Harri , the winner of the one-time rally, at the finish line.
“This is a difficult and very pleasant season to get it here in Estonia.
It’s almost a home rally and many fans here support,” Rovanpera told the WRC website.
“This is a long season so far with the results that are not so good, but we prove that the steps are there and now we can take him home well,” he added.
Last year Rovanpera was the youngest driver to reach the podium when he was third in Sweden.
He preserved overnight advantages by completing the third, fourth or fifth at all Sunday stages.
Belgium Thierry Neuville ended a third of Hyundai, 1 minute 12 seconds behind, after winning three gradually and finishing second in the other three.
The seven-time champion Sebastien Ogier was finished fourth to extend the overall leadership in the driver’s championship for 37 points over the fifth Toyota Team-Mate Welshman Elfyn Evans.
Home Hope and winner of four-time race OTT Tanak, win three stages on Sundays, including the power of the cover, but finished 22 and 20 minutes later than Rovanpera after being left on Friday after three stabs in Hyundai.
