Nagpur: The passing of 2 leopards on Thursday (June 3) from the Khapa woods array has kicked up a row by allegations which National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocol wasn’t followed while running a post-mortem and then cremation of those critters.
On Thursday, carcasses of a female leopard and her four-month-old cub were discovered in Mohgaon in arid Pendhri nullah.
A post-mortem ran by livestock growth officer (LDO) Dr Rohini Bawaskar prima facie demonstrated the animals died because of dehydration.
“But, although the post-mortem has been conducted by Dr Bawaskar alone, the media release issued by Khapa variety forest officer (RFO) Pravin Naik liberally stated the Dr Syed Bilal of Transit Treatment Centre (TTC), Seminary Hills, was likewise present,” stated newly-appointed district honorary wildlife warden Avinash Londhe.
Londhe alleged that the 2 leopards perished of thirst.
“It’s the comprehensive collapse of this RFO worried that no synthetic drinking water resources are made for wildlife through peak summertime,” he explained.
He stated,”Leopard being Schedule-I monster under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, no older officers reached the area according to protocol.
Of those four honorary wardens to get Nagpur district, none was encouraged during post-mortem as agents of PCCF (wildlife) and NTCA.
Ashish Kohale out of a native NGO was known” RFO Naik admits,”Dr Bilal’s title in the media release was cited by error.
Kohale was known as as NTCA representative with previous approval from AIG Hemant Kamdi.
It is a fact that there wasn’t any PCCF representative” On not phoning honorary wardens to get post-mortem, Naik stated,”Ajinkya Bhatkar was not unavailable as he had been outside of Nagpur.
The following warden Roheet Karu is located in Umred plus it wasn’t feasible for him .
I haven’t heard about yet another warden Uddhamsingh Yadav and, moreover, I was also unaware the Londhe being named warden two weeks past.” “There isn’t any intentional goof up.
Senior officials couldn’t get to the place since they were occupied directing tracking teams to look at the leopard difficulty in Nagpur.
The post-mortem was conducted in a clear fashion and there’s not any poaching as each of the body parts were undamaged,” explained RFO Naik.
