Nagpur: The Republican Party of India (a) will support the caste-based census to find out the OBC population and the right community, said the Head of the Party and Minister of Union Ramdas Athaware here on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media during his visit to the city, Rajya members Sabha underestimated concerns that the caste-based census would lead to increasing demands for bookings from different communities.
“The last census was done by England in 1947, after that the practice was stopped,” he said.
The minister was in town to welcome new members of various villages such as Mouluda joining their party for local body polls.
Many activists from other parties turned to RPI (A) in front of him.
Taking excavation on the opposition, Athaware said the NDA government at the center led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clarified that it will not change the existing reservation system as resolved by the Supreme Court or the constrand and other parties try to mislead people.
Explaining his establishment at Maratha’s reservation, Athaware said the center had changed Article 102 and gave strength to countries to include caste in the OBC category.
“Now it’s up to the Maharashtra government to provide a reservation to the Maratha community, instead of blaming the government,” he said.
The minister also demanded tight action against the defendant who allegedly raped a mentally backed girl in the city.
Athawane will visit Chandrapur on August 27 where seven members of the Dalit community are allegedly beaten because they are suspected of practicing “Black Magic”.
