Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet on Wednesday decided to provide Rs 1,000 as a financial assistance once, as in previous years, for endosulfan victims.
Help, to be disbursed through a social security mission, will benefit 5,357 victims.
The Minister of Justice Social Justice has last month, while replying to the accusation of apathetic opposition, told the assembly that the government carried out many schemes to help these victims.
He said the 171CR Hospital was intended for compensation and RS 16.8 Crore for the treatment of victims this year in addition to quoting schemes such as Snehwana Snehwannam for victims, neglecting electricity bills and work in medical colleges at the same time.
However, according to the latest numbers of the Planning Department, only RS 6 Crore RS 19 Crore intended for a comprehensive package for endosulfan victims has been spent so far.
Opposition leader V D Sathean also shows that 3,713 people on the affected list have not received compensation ordered by SC in 2017.
