Bhubaneswar: The State Government of State has spent around Rs 2.42 Crore in developing poor students for civil service exams since 2016-17 through private universities and institutions but do not have data about the number of successful candidates, said Arun Kumar Education Minister Kumar Sahoo Assembly on the day Wednesday.
The Ministry of Higher Education has released RS 1.82 Crore to eight universities in 2016-17 and 2017-18 to run a civil service training center.
It has gave sanctions RS 30 Lakh to the University of Utkal, Rs 10 Lakh to Fakir Mohan University, Ballasore, Rs 12.5 Lakh to North Odisha University and RS 26 Lakh each to the Helped University, Sambalpur University, Ravenshaw University, Rama Devi University , Bhubaneswar, and GM University, Sambalpur, for Puropose.
The department has signed the MoU with Dhoya Educational Services Private Limited on March 7, 2019, to provide civil service training to candidates.
In the first batch, 99 candidates have received the entrance ticket.
The government has spent 60 lakh Rs, the official source said.
Recently, a CAG report revealed that the training center scheme could not take off at the Utkal University.
This scheme was stopped by the government in 2018-19.
