Mumbai: Mumbai Navi-based importer which is part of a syndicate that smuggles 35 kg of heroin worth Rs 240 Crore from Addis Ababa to Mumbai, captured by the customs department.
Customs intelligence unit on Saturday arrested Harshad Gajra, the owner of Harshida Impex, a resident of Koparghairie at Navi Mumbai after his name was cut in an investigation.
Gajra, officials said, produced before the Special Court and returned to judges.
Meanwhile officials also searched several leading entrepreneurs in Mumbai.
“This is a very rooted conspiracy and many big people are involved in the case of drug access.
Our investigation is ongoing and will not be appropriate for us to reveal anything at this stage because the main suspect can escape,” said an officer.
Other officers said that they captured Harshad because of the involvement and kolpirasi ownership, transportation and efforts to commit violations based on the provision of NDPS laws by conspiring and sponsoring two foreign nationals for business trips to India where they tried to smuggle contraband goods.
