‘Rs 35 Crore to prevent artificial floods in Mangalore’

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said the state government has released Rs 35 Crore to change all major rajakalues (stormwater waterways) in the city.
He said improvements in the main storm waterways would prevent artificial floods in the city during the rainy season.
“Even the moderate rain produces floods in Kudroli, KS Rao Road, Layout Chandrika, Pandeshwar, and other areas.
Overflowing stormwater waterways causes flooding in many places in the city.
The recovery of all rajakaluves in the city may require Rs 200 Crore.
I am sure to get an additional RS 35 crore in the next phase.
The tender process has been completed and the first phase will begin in one or two months.
Build the retaining walls will prevent the drain from overflowing during the rainy season, “he said in the interaction held by Dakshina Kannada District Journalists who worked here on Tuesday.

The discussion was held with a private player to hand in hand with Mangaluru Smart City Limited to take the project,” he said.
For the convenience of migrant workers, the government plans to build a warehouse in the city, Kamath said.
“The majority of construction workers in Mangaluru come from districts and other states.
This city has no adequate infrastructure for migrant workers to live when they work on various sites.
Therefore, the Minister of Labor Shivaram Hebbar has promised to provide fund sanctions for the project .
The site has been identified and the proposal has been submitted, “he said.

Cells, which will issue TDR to those who have given their land development project, will soon be able to function.
