Noida: A few days before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Police Noida confiscated Rs of 4.72 lakh from two people when they carry “countless money” in the SUV on Wednesday.
The incident came on the police heel who detained two people and recovered Rs 99 lakh “countless cash” from them on Tuesday.
According to officials, security has increased in Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar, which borders Delhi and the parts of Haryana, considering the Assembly polls starting February 10.
The police have also increased security checks at the border point and started a thorough inspection of vehicles, officials said.
“In this order, joint action was taken by the Sector 58 police station and the static supervision team (SST), which intercepted the Harrier Tata near the Sector 61,” said a police spokesman.
“Two people above the SUV and when checked, the box containing washing powder was found in the car.
When checking the laminated further cash lump was found filled in the boxes,” said the spokesman.
Residents, identified as Arun Saxena and Sanjeev Kumar Jha, cannot explain the situation or give a satisfying response to whom the cash, the official said.
Cash has been confiscated and because the legal process is being carried out, police said.
