RS 446-CR Nabard nodded for the Punjab water project

Chandigarh: The National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) Regional Office Punjab has gave sanctions RS 445.89 Crore under the Development of Rural Infrastructure (REWF) for five large surface-based drinking water projects in Fuzpur, Fazilka, Hoshirapur and District Rupnagar.
These projects imagine to provide 70 liters per capita per day of drinking water drinking at the end of the consumer through a functional household tap connection which includes a rural population of 10.39 lakh in 700 villages.
The villages in Ferozpur and Fazilka face high turbidity problems / TDS while villages in Rupnagar and Hoshiarkur face problems lacking seasonal water.
The state government utilizes central government assistance available under Jal Jeevan’s mission with support under the Regf to benefit from the large population in the state.
Sharing Details, Rajiv Siwach, CGM, Nabard, Punjab, told that with 392 this project involving RS 887.98 Crore assistance at various stages of implementation by the Department of Water & Sanitation Supply, the Punjab Government.
The completion of these projects will benefit the rural population of 28.90 lakh populations.
He added that during the year 3 projects involving RUD assistance from RS 506 Crore had been approved to the state government to drink water and the construction of additional classrooms in existing government schools.
Siwach also told that cumulatively, Nabard had gave sanctions for rural infrastructure projects of Rs 10,736.29 Crore and disbursed RS 7,602.76 Crore to the state government under the RIDF.
