New Delhi: The government approved Rs 5.05 Crore to provide each RS 5 Lakh respectively as aid to the family of 101 journalists who died of Covid-19, Minister of State for Bharati Pravin Pawar told Lok Sabha on Friday.
Responding to a question, said pawar in the written reply of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting made a special drive to provide financial assistance to the families of such journalists.
“On the basis of the application received by the Press Information Bureau, which meets the criteria placed under the Journalist Welfare Scheme (JWS) managed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a number of Rs 5.05 Crore approved for 2020 and 2021 for financial assistance at the RS 5 level Lakh / family for each of the 101 family journalists who died of Covid-19, “said Pawar.
