Mumbai: The crime branch caught seven men suspected of being printed by RS 7 Crore in a record of fake currencies of Rs 2,000 denominations and plans to circulate it.
Six of the defendants were Manoj Sharma, Sumit aka Sam Yaspal, Vinod Vijain, Pradeep Choudhary, Afhak Ansari and Israr Qureshi.
Manoj, who from Delhi, seems to be a kingpin, which was accused of Ghaziabad, Bijnor, and one from Thrissur in Kerala.
They have been sent to police custody until January 31.
Acting on specific information, a team led by Vinayak Chavan Inspector, Gawas Sachin, Mansingh Patil intercepted the car in Dahisaron Tuesday night.
During the search, they found a bag containing Rs 5 Crore in a record of fake currencies of Rs 2,000 denominations, an official said.
During interrogation, the defendant spilled beans on their three feet.
The police then searched the place in Andheri where they arrested three and restored many fake records with a nominal value of Rs 2 Crore.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Sangramsingh Nisdar said that the defendant planned to circulate this note.
