RS 7CR on WR, Fine CR in 4 Mnths shows despair

Mumbai: Central Railway and Western Railway together collect RS 7 Crore in a fine of ticketless travelers on the suburban train in the past four months, show statistics available on Sundays.
Commuter activists and passengers say that it is “unfair” not to allow office visitors and daily workers on the local train and which travels without tickets “in despair”.
Activists say that as a local train service is the life lane of Mumbaikars, Lakh depends on him to travel to workplaces such as shops, offices and business homes from distant places and these are among those fined in the last four months.
A Cr official said that the rules were tight and only those in the work of the government, about the task of medical frontline and several others were permitted by the state government to travel on the suburban train.
“We have imposed a fine of Rs 260 plus train rates for each passenger who was caught without a ticket,” said Chief Spokesman for CR Shivaji Sutar.
Subhash Gupta, President Rail Yatri Parishad, said: “It was ridiculous.
The government has opened shops, restaurants and offices after the second lock.
But it has denied train trips to those who will go to these shops, restaurants and offices to work.
“Hundreds of workers, workers from unorganized sectors and also office visitors depend on the lubricant train to travel from far away to their workplaces.
If the store is open, their workers feel difficult and also expensive to travel through roads to their workplaces.
Not everyone is able to buy Ola or Uber every day to travel to the office.
It is not practical to stop the train and hope people travel through roads to work.
“Office visitors, who request anonymity, say:” I am in sales and have to travel from Kalyan to the omelet every day.
Very hard to travel by bus and expensive to travel by taxi.
If I don’t report to work, I might lose my job.
There is no alternative but to travel by train and pay a fine if caught.
