Kolkata / Tarakeswar: The Bengal Government has started an ambitious project to change Tarakswar Temple and side by side with Hooghly to become an integrated Zone of RS 80-Crore to add annual pilgrims.
In accordance with the plan, the Development Authority of Tarasswar (TDA) last week floated the tender for “rejuvenation” dudhkukur, the sacred pool where worshipers took prayers.
Local chairman MLA and TDA Ramendu Singha Roy said under the project, “the temple complex will receive a makeover, the holy pool will be rejuvenated and approaching the road through villages will be changed”.
Dudhkur, said the engineers, will undergo “ozone treatment for bacterial oxidation and other water pathogens”.
In other words, ozone treatment will reduce contaminants in pond water.
There are also plans to illuminate dudhpur as Amrit Sarovar in front of the golden temple in Amritsar.
The closest pool, Shankar Digi, will also be beautified along with Hanuman Ghat, said Roy.
Additional facilities tend to enter more tourist accommodations and public toilets.
Temple Tarakswar was built in 1729 by Raja Bharamalla such as A atchala (Twotier Roof with each level that has four curved triangle sectors) and boasts Natmandir (Dancing Hall).
There was an expanded gallery for the congregation of worshipers.
Mythology said the dudhwatur was originally filled with milk for body purification, mind and soul.
Today, it is holy water for purification.
Dewa residences is Lord Shiva, the temple saw the sea of pilgrims during the Srabani Mela month in July-August.
