Nagpur: The State Government stated a plan to start the Warning Center of the RS1,600 Crore Disaster Warning in Nagpur, said Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwar here on Sunday.
Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation said this center will use Israel’s high-end technology and will provide advanced information about natural disasters so that there is plenty of time available to prepare and react.
“Using technology, this center will provide a sophisticated warning about rain, cyclone etc.
This will help us to be better prepared to face the situation,” Wadettiwar said.
“The plot of 10 acres is being sought in Mihan and I hope it will be given in the next two weeks.
The document for the project has begun,” he added.
Providing a background about how this idea appeared, Wadettiwar said it during the official trip to Bengaluru.
“There they have a disaster information system center that is very helpful in warnings of all stakeholders about natural disasters.
So, we realize that in Maharashtra too, we need to have a sophisticated center that will help us monitor the situation,” Wadettiwar said.
He said at this time the warning was issued based on weather forecast.
“Often, we issue a warning but nothing happens.
Having a system activated sophisticated technology will be very useful,” said Minister.
In a prolonged dry mantra in Nagpur, who received partial assistance on Sunday with a few light shower, Wadettiwar said it affected agricultural activities.
“If this dry mantra continues, farmers may have to be rewarded.
They need accurate information because they plan everything on the weather pattern,” Wadettiwar said.
The minister, who was in Nagpur on Sunday, handled the media, especially about heavy shower in Mumbai and victims in the incident related to rain.
Wadettiwar said, “Before every rainy season, we issued a warning to people who live near or on the hill, but not everyone is ready to be evacuated.
Even with 150mm rainfall, Mumbai face many problems because of his geography, here 300mm has fallen Within 24 hours.
“He added that RS5 Lakh will be given to the families of Mumbai landslide victims, while all injured must be treated in the government’s burden.
