Chennai: India Airport Authority (AAI) has reduced the cost of RT-PCR tests at Chennai Airport for passengers from risky countries.
The normal RT-PCR test to detect Covid-19 will cost Rs 600 instead of RS 700 and a fast RT-PCR test will cost Rs 2,900 not Rs 3,400.
New rates will take effect on Wednesday.
Rates are reduced after AAI decides to forget the share of income.
Given the new omicron variants, centers and state governments have issued new guidelines for international arrival where RT-PCR has been made mandatory for all passengers who arrive from risky countries and randomized checks of 2% of the total flight passengers who arrive from non-countries – risks.
At Chennai Airport, the exclusive corridor with the area for passengers to wait for the results has been established at the T-4 for the passenger screen that arrives from risky countries.
About 700 to 800 passengers undergo a test every day.

Passengers who departed for the UAE must also take the RT-PCR test at the airport.
