Nagpur: Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVIS) and Inspector Assistant (Amvis) have objected to being given a job to validate applications received for online learning licenses (LL).
Officers from the region told TOI that without physical verification they could not approve documents, especially medical certificates, candidates who appeared for online learning license tests.
So, the Commissioner of the State Transportation is now planning to emproise some doctors to issue medical certificates for use in RTOS.
The Maharashtra government began an online learning license test facility from home in June this year.
This facility allows candidates to order online slots and appear for the LL test sitting at home.
However, MVIS and Amven expressed displeasure because they were assigned the role of the submitted documents submitted by LL applicants.
Quoting an example, one of Amvis said that for example a candidate, which is medically not feasible for SIM, appears for online learning license tests, and presses its physical condition by regulating a fake medical certificate.
“If we agree to such applications, we might be charged with derel tasks and punishment because there is no error we,” AMVI shows that in the past many have submitted a fake medical certificate to utilize SIMs, but was thwarted due to strict supervision.
“We have brought this LACUNA with our senior notifications, and they have given the transportation commissioner in Mumbai,” they claim.
“Now, the Department of Transportation has decided to assign a doctor to issue a medical certificate to candidates who submit a request, Learning and Permanent, SIM.
The doctor will state if the applicant is medically suitable for driving or rising vehicles.
The responsibility has been entrusted to the doctor,” said a person Senior official from the office of Rto City.
In accordance with the New Order, RTO will authorize several doctors in the city for this purpose.
“Doctors must visit the RTO office and have medical qualifications they are verified.
Then, they will be given a login ID to upload a medical candidate certificate that appears for online tests and other needs, including driving license updates, etc.
on the Sarathi portal,” he said.
In short, they (the designated doctor) will be responsible for medical fitness applicants when they appear for the test, he said.
The officer admitted that so far not one doctor had approached the office to register to issue a medical fitness certificate.
However, he claimed that the Transportation Commissioner Office had not issued a procedure to ratify the doctor for that purpose.
