Pune: Civil bodies in this region plan more guidelines for vaccine camps in the housing community to prevent covid inoculation fraud, as happened in Mumbai in May.
Officials from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Civic Corporations said they were planning a more stringent monitoring of camps carried out through bonds between private hospitals and housing communities.
Authorities from the ward office are now asked to monitor camps, they said.
At Pune City, PMC has so far allowed 152 housing communities to hold camps in place.
The current rule states that the memorandum of understanding between private centers and housing communities must be submitted by the center to the local body.
A PMC official said the new plan would exceed the agreement.
“Registration of private centers in Cowin will be checked.
A member of the local authority will also be asked to monitor the drive and give updates to officials,” said PMC official.
Vikram Kumar, head of PMC, said strict checks would ensure camps in a smooth housing community.
Rajesh Patil, Commissioner of PCMC, said they also planned more guidelines.
“The involvement of local authorities will ensure the process is efficient,” said Patil.
In Mumbai, BMC health workers, Dr.
Mangala Ghomare said the housing community association must also notify the local police station.
Suhas Pat Wardhan, Chairperson of Pune District Cooperative Housing Federation, said, “We will soon circulate a complete list of registered private vaccination centers, which are wise, to approach the community.”
