Colombo (Sri Lanka): Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Ramesh Ratnayake on Wednesday was appointed as a temporary coach from the national side for the upcoming Australian tour.
The five-match series from February 11-20 will be played in three places, Ground Cricket Sydney, Manuka Oval, and Land Cricket Melbourne.
“He was appointed by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket by consulting the Technical Advisory Committee Sri Lanka Cricket,” SLC said in a statement.
Sri Lanka Cricket said Ratnayake would not travel to Australia with a team but would join before the T20i 1 match, because he was currently in a positive self-tested isolation for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the second, third, and fourth T20is have been transferred from Queensland and Adelaide to minimize the risk of biosecurity by reducing traveling throughout the country.
