Run-over case in Coimbatore: Cars may have dragged women

Coimbatore: The day after a woman’s body, which is run by several vehicles, found in Avinashi Road near Chinniyampalayam, City Police have identified a multi-purpose vehicle from where the body falls and traces the owner to Tiruvallur area.
Tiruvallur police were told about the findings and were asked to collect more details.
While the woman’s identity has not been found, postmortem from the body was carried out at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the police source, a forensic doctor estimates that the age of women between 60 and 65 years.
There was no sign of the crowding in the neck or signs of rotten play and the doctor could rule out the murder and said that the woman had met the accident, a police officer said, adding that the police were waiting for the postmortem report to make an official statement.
Two police teams, which were formed to conduct an investigation, continued to collect CCTV footage from the Kaniyur toll road to Coimbatore Airport, a 15 km stretch.
CCTV footage shows the MPV take the right turn on the Sitra traffic signal and a few minutes later, it returns to the signal and goes to the airport.
Police sources said the elderly woman was, who seemed to be poor, could have been hit by MPV and MPV had dragged the corpse for the distance before being released from the vehicle near Chinniyampalayam.
As soon as the body is released from the vehicle, the MPV driver has stopped the vehicle a few meters and see the body lying on the road before driving.
