Runway continues not to affect airport operations

Coimbatore: Runway at Coimbatore International Airport will undergo a return job immediately after the Indian Airport Authority (AAI) has floated tenders to carry out work with an estimated cost of 46.32 crore.
The work is expected to begin in several months.
and will be completed in 15 months.
Runway there is a length of 9,500 feet and a width of 148 feet.
The proposal to expand the runway to 12,500 feet to handle larger aircraft has been postponed because of the obstacles in the acquisition of land safety standards.Resurfacing was last carried out more than 10 years ago, an airport official said.
“Coating work is carried out at various intervals at the airport depending on the number of flights operated and load factors.
Landing frequently and taking off causes wear.
Some rubber can be peeled and attached to the foundation.
Because it accumulated for years, it decreases safety standards.
Apart from That, the runway suffers from small damage that requires improvement, “he said.
The work can be done during the pale pandemic period, when the flight movement is less, flight fans say.
Works only for about eight hours per day, said the airport director S Senthil Valavan.
“This will be taken when the flight movement is less,” he said.
