Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Airport Patel International (SVPI) in Ahmedabad everything will be done to recarpeting the total runway at the end of this year.
If the source placed properly must be believed, the complete runway racery project is on the card in November this year.
In early April, city airport authorities conducted a runway reporting project and the runway was closed for about eight hours a day for about ten days.
“Recarpeting of the whole foundation is very much in an office,” said a source.
“This is done to build runways equivalent to international standards, maintaining worries of safety and maintenance in the future in mind.” Officials of Indian airport authorities and them from Airport Adani held a high-level meeting to discuss the subtleties of the proposed project earlier this month.
The formal proposal will soon be sent to the flight regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
“Runway must be closed completely for several hours during the day so that coating work can be done safely,” the source said.
“So far, there is no aircraft movement that will take place at the city airport.” Flight movements will be changed during the maintenance period.
“The winter schedule will be announced effectively in October-end if everything goes according to plan,” said the source.
The source added that the project details are complete, all the airlines concerned will be informed for their flight time in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
The first main maintenance project carried out at the airport after the operation was taken over by Adani Ahmedabad International Airport Limited was a maintenance of the runway from 20 to 30 April.
