Mumbai: Indian Rupee rejected 4 Paise to 73.06 against the US dollar in opening trading on Monday, tracking strong American currencies.
In the interbank foreign exchange, Rupee opened at 73.02 against the dollar, then fell further to 73.06, registering 4 Paise falling during the previous closes.
On Friday, Rupee has settled at 73.02 against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, traded up 0.18 percent at 92.20.
Forex traders say rallies in domestic equity and the inflow of sustainable foreign funds support rupees and contain shrinkage bias.
In front of the domestic equity market, after reaching a high of 58,515.85, Sensex BSE traded 274.79 points or 0.47 percent higher at 58,404.74, while the more extensive NIFTY NSE jumped 74.70 points or 0.43 percent to 17,398.30.
The index touched the highest intra-day 17,429.55 in the initial transaction.
Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors are clean buyers in the capital market on Friday, because they buy shares worth Rs 768.58 Crore, according to data exchange.
