Mumbai: The Indian Rupee appreciates 15 Paise to 73.59 against the US dollar in opening trading on Tuesday, tracking down the weakness of the American currency in foreign markets.
In the interbank foreign exchange, Rupee opened at 73.74 against the dollar, then rose higher to 73.59, up 15 Paise as long as it was closed before.
On Monday, Rupee has settled 73.74 against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.09 percent to 93.19.
Investor foreign institutions are clean buyers in the capital market on Monday because they buy shares worth Rs 92.54 Crore, according to data exchange.
In front of the domestic equity market, BSE Sensex traded 73.95 points or 0.13 percent lower at 58,416.98, while the nifty nifty which fell 1.30 points or 0.01 percent to 17,395.60.
Meanwhile, the Global Oil Benchmark Brent Crude Futures rose 0.88 percent to USD 74.57 per barrel.
According to Anil Kumar Bhansali, Chief Treasury, Finrex Treasury Advisor, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) began Tuesday to provide direction to the market bound until tomorrow morning.
“Exporter to continue selling uptick while importers may have the opportunity to buy below the level of 73.50,” Bhansali said.
