Bhubaneswar: BJP on Thursday promised to end a controversial centralized token system for the procurement of rice and streamline the purchase by opening a market yard at the Panchlayat level under the leadership of Sarpanches if the party was chosen in the election of three Panchayat in Odisha.

BJP President Samir Mohanty said his party would fight for a transparent rice procurement system by ending the Nexus of Miller and intermediaries.

Various farmers’ organizations have protested the current system where farmers can sell rice only when they get centralized tokens produced at the state level and on predetermined date and time given to them.

BJP also promised to ensure central cash incentives under PM Kisan reached farmers.
The party said that even though the trade union government has provided Rs 6000 per year in three installments, Lion’s section of money will be an intermediary due to loyalty to the ruling party in Odisha and not to the real farmers.
BJP said committed to strengthening Panchayats as imagined in the constitution and ensuring decentralized decision making.
The Sabhas gram will be formed to make a village level development plan with the help of Sarpanches and members of the environment.
Environmental members and Sarpanches will immediately spend money given to Panchayats.
The Safron party leaflet said that if it chose it would end up with bribes to implement houses under the Pradhan Mantri Beware of Yojana-Grameen (PMAY-G) and the toilet under Swachh Bharat.

The party will ensure the drinking water and LPG gas connections to each household.
