Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) is likely to announce the date for the opinion of three levels in one or two days, said the source.
In the strong indication of the commission plan for early announcement of the date of the poll, the Commissioner of the State Election of Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday Governor Ganeshi Lal about the readiness for the polls besides holding a discussion with the Secretary of Sanjeev Suntah and DGP Sunil Bansal for the law and order situation.
The cabinet meeting, which was scheduled earlier on Tuesday, was submitted until Monday night.
The same was seen as an indication of the possibility of the announcement of the number of polls on Tuesday itself.
Polls tend to be held from mid-February.
Padhi also held a meeting of all parties at the beginning of the day looking for advice from political parties freely and fairly.
BJP and Congress demanded a delay of polls for two to three months considering the Covid situation.
The SEC heard the view of political parties about whether and how to undergo elections in the midst of the Covid situation.
“Given the guidelines issued by the General Election Commission, the SEC will immediately issue its own guidelines to hold Pancrayat polls for free and fairly,” Padhi Commission said to postpone a two to three months poll given the Covid situation.
“People’s life must be the highest concern.
There will be no crisis if the poll is suspended two to three months,” he said.
