Moscow: The head of the Russian defense on Tuesday signed a road map for military relations closer to China, pointing to US strategic strategic bomber flights which were increasingly near the border of the two countries.
During video calls, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his partners, Wei Fenghe “expressed interest together to improve strategic military training and joint patrols by Russia and China,” According to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“China and Russia have become a strategic partner for years,” Shoigu said.
“Today, in conditions of increasing geopolitical turbuleness and the growth of potential conflicts in various parts of the world, the development of our interaction is very relevant.” Shoigu pointed to an increasingly intensive flight by US strategic bombers near the Russian border, said that there were 30 missions for the past month.
“This month, during the global global strategic style exercises, 10 strategic bombers practicing the scenario using nuclear weapons against Russia practically simultaneously from the west and east,” Shoigu said, adding that they came as close as 20 kilometers (12 miles)) to the border Russia.
He also recorded an increase in the number of US bomber flights on Ochotsk ocean where they practiced to reach points to launch roaming missiles, saying that he pose a threat to Russia and China.
“In such an environment, Russian-China coordination is a stabilization factor in global affairs,” Shoigu said.
Wei praised Russia to succeed against what she described as pressure and threat of US military.
Shoigu and Wei praised a series of maneuvers involving Russian and Chinese fighter planes and naval ships, and signed a plan for military cooperation for 2021-2025.
On Friday, the two Russian strategic bombers TU-95MS and two strategic bombers H-6K China flew a joint patrol on the sea of Japan and the East China Sea, encouraged South Korea to scramble combat jets.
Patrol Bomber followed the Joint Navy maneuvers by warships and Russian and Chinese aircraft in the Japanese sea last month.
In August, Shoigu visited China to attend a joint war match, which marked the first time that Russian troops had taken part in training in China.
They are the latest in a series of war matches in recent years, intended to underline the closer military relations between Moscow and Beijing.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leaders, XI Jinping, have developed a strong personal bond to increase “strategic partnerships” between former Communist rivals because they both face tension with the West.
Russia has tried to expand the bond with China as its relationship with the US and its allied to the lowest position of the post-cold war over the 2014 Moscow annexation of the Crimean Peninsula Ukraine, the accusation of Russian hacking attacks, disruption in elections and disputes.
Although Russia and China in the past rejected the possibility of forging a military alliance, Putin said last year that such prospects could not be ruled out.
He has also noted that Russia has shared military technology that is very sensitive to China which helps significantly improve its defense capabilities.
