Russia said in talks with Guatemala for the delay in vaccines

The city of Guatemala: Russia and Guatemala are in talks on the delivery of delayed from the Russian V Sputnik vaccine but the Central American country has not requested its money back, Russian direct investment funds (RDIF) on Wednesday.
Health Minister Guatemala Amelia Flores said the country requested a refund after paying around $ 80 million in April for 8 million vaccine doses.
It has received only 150,000 shots.
RDIF, which is responsible for marketing a vaccine abroad, said negotiations were being carried out to ensure delivery up to 2021 but did not return Flores comments.
“There is no request to return the money paid for sputnik v delivery,” RDIF said in a statement.
“What is being discussed is a possible adjustment to the supply schedule and number of shipments along the remaining 2021 to ensure the vaccination of Guatemalan population that is not disconnected by the two doses of Sputnik V.” RDIF spokesman on Tuesday said more shipments will reach Guatemala this week and the following as part of the supply contract.
Guatemala, with 18 million residents, has just invested 158,000 people, just like Covid-19 infection has reached its peak.
Flores did not immediately respond to the request to comment on RDIF statements on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, he told parliamentary members at Congress that Guatemala asked for money back and paid for delivery in the future after giving birth.
