Russia said the US mission in Afghanistan has failed

Moscow: Russia on Friday said that the United States had failed in its mission in Afghanistan and blamed the withdrawal of foreign troops for stability that collapsed quickly.
Taliban rebels in Afghanistan have used the final stage of withdrawal of foreign troops to launch attacks, capturing district plots and border crossings, and circling the provincial capital.
The White House has tried to paint the withdrawal of foreign troops in the “most positive color”, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.
“But everyone understands that the mission failed,” he told reporters at a conference in Uzbekistan which was attended by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
Lavrov previously blamed the “hasty withdrawal” from US and NATO forces who aggravated security in Afghanistan and warned instability that spread to neighboring countries.
“In the last few days we unfortunately see a quick deferioration of the situation in Afghanistan,” he said in comments brought by Russian news agencies.
“Given the hurried withdrawal of US and NATO troops, there is a major uncertainty in the future of political and military situations in the country,” he told reporters.
Russia organized Taliban representatives in Moscow last week, where rebel groups claimed to have control over around 85 percent of Afghanistan.
Moscow observed the Taliban face and worried about the potential for instability that reached the former Soviet former Asian countries where Russia retained military bases.
Lavrov said the crisis had increased the threat of terrorism and deteriorating problems around drug trafficking, which he said had achieved “unprecedented levels”.
“It is clear that, in this situation, there is a real risk that spreads to neighboring countries,” he said in Tashkent, according to the Russian news agency.
Earlier this week, Ex-Soviet Tajikistan said nearly 350 Afghan refugees had crossed the border to escape the progress of the Taliban.
President Tajikistan, Emomali Rakhmon made inspections at the border guard post on Friday, after previously calling 20,000 reserves to increase defense along the border with the country with Afghanistan.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said this week the staging of military training in Tajikistan where he had a base aimed at supporting the security of the border with Afghanistan.
