Moscow: Airplanes with 28 people on the ship crashed into the sea on Tuesday from the Russian East Kamchatka Peninsula because they were preparing to land, the news agency reported on Tuesday.
The aircraft, Turboprop Antonov An-26 were twin-engined, were on their way of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky’s Regional Capital to Puna, a village in North Kamchatka, when losing contact with air traffic control, the Russian emergency ministry said.
Some ships were on their way to the accident site, said Ria quoted emergency services.
There were 22 passengers and six crew, the ministry said.
The Mayor of Olga Mokhireva Village is among the passengers, the TASS body quoted local authorities.
The weather in this area was cloudy at the time, the Interfax news agency quoted the local meteorological center.
According to Tass, the plane was built in 1982.
