Agra: Mathura police on Saturday captured the 31-year-old Russian national, Dmitrii Maltcev, for allegedly living in India Illegally since April 2020.
He was questioned by various security institutions and then booked in Section 14 foreigners.
During examining the day of independence day, police found suspicious Russian national activities as he roamed Vrindavan.
When the police asked Maltcev to show his visa and other documents to live in India, he told the police that he did not have a valid visa and passport.
Maltcev entered India on October 10, 2019 concerning Tourist Visa (VK 93710), which has ended on March 31, 2020.
The passport also ended on March 17, 2021, police said.
He lives in Vani Ashram, which is operated by Iskcon Temple, Mathura.
Talking to Toi, Senior Police Supervisor Guarav Grover said that a FIR was registered against the Russian population and he had been arrested.
He also told TII that Russian embassy officials had been told about it and further investigation was ongoing.
