Rustic people turn to firewood over high price LPG

Mandya: The increase in liquid oil gas prices (LPG) forces poor families and middle classes in rural areas to switch to traditional firewood cuisine, which harm their health.
Many families in the villages have begun to use firewood again and have stopped buying the LPG cylinder which now costs more than Rs 900.
Almost a few years ago, only a few families use LPG to cook in rural areas.
However, in a number of years almost all rural populacaces embraced the LPG cylinder thanks to the increasing number of gas institutions in rural areas.
However, the increase in prices of LPG means that villagers have begun to collect and store firewood.
“We have stopped using LPG because we cannot afford it.
When firewood is fuel at no charge for us, why should we buy LPG cylinders?” Manshanna said, a farmer in Keregodu Village.
Kalamma, a housewife in Molekoppalu Village said that her family almost stopped using gas cylinders after the price of the cylinder runs on RS 800.
“Previously, we fully depend on the gas cylinder for cooking.
But now almost all families in my village slowly left.
LPG and return to firewood, “he said.
Hulere Mahadevu, a progressive thinker said all the government’s previous efforts to isolate women from the dangers of smoke from burning firewood seemed to have been wasted when rural women were forced to use firewood again because of the increase in cylinder price increases.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be ashamed to introduce the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal (PMUY) scheme as now forcibly expressed women to use LPG because of high prices,” he said.
