Gurgaon: Citing a lack of transparency and accountability in the function of the environmental committee, representatives of various RWA in the city held protests outside the MCG office in sector 34.
Around 50 residents from various sectors participating in demonstrations.
Then, they filed a memorandum to the commissioner of MCG Mukesh Ahuja and demanded that the environmental committee be dissolved.
RWA has protested these committees for some time, allegating that they do not have a representation of ordinary people.
However, the problem was exacerbated after the proposal was carried out at the MCG home that garden maintenance was handed over to the Environment Committee.
Parks are usually managed by local Rwa under the supervision of MCG.
The Environment Committee is an advisory body that proposes various development projects in their territory.
However, Rwa members have accused that these committees consist mostly of relatives and local council friends or senior MCG officials and have no representation of residents.
“At home meetings, board members have passed the resolution to empower themselves and not for the welfare of the population.
We want the committee of the ward to be dissolved because there are irregularities in their formation and some of its members are relatives and colleagues of the council,” said Lalit Suraj Bihola, Secretary General Sector 9A RWA.
“While we are the chosen body, members of the Environment Committee are chosen by local council members.
Many of them are known to abuse offices,” said Prashant Chauhan, President of Rwa Sector 9.
Residents accused that since the sectors transferred from HSVP to MCG, the condition of civil work has been deteriorate.
“Many projects are only on paper and no one is executed.
We are work sufferers below the standard.
Payments to the contractor are cleared based on the satisfaction letter from the Members of the Environmental Council,” said Udayvir Yadav, President Rwa Sector 10a.
The MCG Ahuja commissioner cannot be contacted for comments despite repeated efforts.
