Ryots’ Suicides: HC Fumes Over Delay In Disbursal Relief

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Thursday called the Principal Secretary of Revenue Department on April 6 to explain uncontrolled delays in paying Ex Gratia to the families of farmers who committed suicide on the agrarian crisis.
Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili heard a public interest request submitted by the Social Activist in the conde of the Reddy of Siddipet who accused the country by failing to identify suicide well and did not release the amount of EX Gratia relatives who were depressed from the dead farmers.
Vasudha Nagaraj’s Petitioner’s advisor brought a court notice that the state government had agreed to pay Ex Gratia to 133 farmers who had died and had even published on December 24, 2021, giving Hospital sanctions 6 lakh for each family.
“But unfortunately the money has not reached the crisis to hit the family,” he said.
Assistant government applicant for the income department is looking for more time to prepare for the court about progress.
HC bench refused to give the bench time refused to give him anytime and call the main secretary to come and explain the case.
According to REDDY, as many as 7,000 farmers have taken their lives in the 2014 state.
But the three member committees led by Tahsildars at the Mandal and RDO level at the division level failed to identify death correctly.
Instead of taking a holistic view of the crisis, officials denied ex Gratia with a large number of families showing different reasons for death.
“Most of them are tenant farmers and the reasons shown are debt issued due to children’s education, girl marriage etc.
Even in connection with 1,600 cases recognized as death-related agriculture, the authorities have made relatives who died.
From the pillar to POS to utilize ex Gratia, “said REDDY said.
This case will appear to hear on April 6.
