Bathinda: The state government at the end of Thursday night gave allegations of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) to senior IPS officers S Chatttopadhyay.
Chattopadhyay has replaced Preeth Iqbal Singh Sahota.
The decision was taken before the meeting called by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on December 21 for the names of shortlist for the NEXT Punjab DGP.
Chattopadhyay is a retirement on March 31, 2022.
Previously, the president of the Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu was not happy for giving DGP’s responsibility to Sahota by saying that he had accused two siblings to be behind the bargari case in October 2015.
The state government has sent a panel Of the 10 names of Senior IPS officers.
UPSC was studied to choose three names which were then sent to the state government to choose one name from them.
According to the norm, each officer with more than 6 months to service can be considered for the top post.
