Seoul: The South Korean military said on Friday the scrambled fighter jets after two Chinese and seven Russian fighter planes were broken into the air defense identification zone during what was called regular training.
The Chinese and Russian aircraft entered the northeastern part of the Korean air defense identification zone for an unspecified period before going out, said Seoul’s head (JCS) (JCS) (JCS), added that they did not violate the airspace.
JCS expels combat jets and tankers filling air fuel as an ordinary step to prepare for the possibility of contingency.
The Chinese military said in response to the request that his plane did routine exercises, said JCS.
“We assess the situation as military training with China and Russia but additional analysis is needed,” JCS said in a statement.
Chinese and Russian fighter aircraft often entered the zone in recent years in the midst of conflicting claims for various air defense identification zones (Adiz).
Unlike air space, Adiz is usually an area where countries can unilaterally demand that foreign aircraft take special steps to identify themselves, without international law governing Adiz.
Moscow did not recognize Kadiz, while Beijing said the area was not a territorial area and all countries had to enjoy freedom to move there.
In 2019, South Korean fighter fired hundreds of warning shots towards Russian military aircraft when they entered the South Korean airspace during air patrol along with China.
South Korea and Japan have ruffled the jet to intercept the patrol at the time, accusing Russia and China violated their airspace.
Moscow and Beijing denied it.
