Coimbatore: Director of City Airport, R Mahingam, was transferred on Thursday.
He has posted as Director of Kozhikode Airport.
He will be replaced by S Senthil Valavan, who is the Director of Madurai Airport.
Senthil Valavan who officially took over on Friday is expected to move to the city on Tuesday.
Mahalingam is expected to move to Calicut on July 8 8.
Valavan is known for its efforts to accelerate land acquisition to expand the runway at Madurai Airport.
But the problem over the decade was still unsolved.
Valavan is also known for improving cleanliness and implementing the Covid protocol at the airport during a pandemic.
Valavan is likely to face the challenge of encouraging land acquisition for airport expansion, a project that has been trapped for almost 13 years and gets more international flights to start operations in the district.
