Ludhiana: Shiromani Akali Dal (Sad) on Sundays asked the Congress government not to be involved in disturbing politics at the cost of society and challenging him to get the problem of Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) investigated by the independent institution of his choice.
Overcoming a press conference here, a sad spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal said the Congress government should not try to get cheap publicity about the PPA issue that knows completely well that it is only two months back that the state industry is closed for days and consumers face massive power cuts because Closure of private thermal plants.
Asking the government not to do politics on a problem that can endanger people, Maheshinder Grewal said passing the resolution to cancel PPAS in a special session of Vidhan Sabha which is meaningless.
“Vidhan Sabha did not propose PPAS or ratify it.
They are contracts between the Punjab government and private companies.
They were executed based on the proposed guidelines and approved by the Government of the UPA led by Prime Minister Dr.
Manmohan Singh.
Remembering these facts is clear that the State Assembly does not have The role is to be played in this matter and if the government intends to cancel PPAS that they must do through executive orders instead of misleading people through empty resolution “.
Grewal also challenges the Congress government to notify Punjabis if any country has arrived at any PPA with private thermal plants at lower prices than stipulated by the state.
“I even challenged the government to find out whether it had bought more than 100 mega watts of power with a lower level than set by the PPA”.
The sad leader also questioned the intention of the Congress government to provide resolutions about PPA issues and the problem of extending the jurisdiction of border security forces (BSF) and three agricultural laws.
He said Vidhan Sabha had issued a resolution under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh called for the rejection of three agricultural laws.
“Now another resolution is being forwarded with the same problem under Charanjit Singh Channi’s leadership.
The government must notify the difference between the two resolutions and how they will help them”.
Grewal said that if the government was truly serious to provide assistance to Punjabis Vis to the agricultural law must issue a notification that they would not be implemented in the state.
He also said the government must come out with the executive command stated that it would not recognize the extension of the BSF jurisdiction outside 15 kilometers from the international border.
He said instead of doing these things, which was the need for hours, Chief of the Minister Channi tried to cheat punjabis with meaningless resolution that would not benefit them in any way.
