Sad looked for a probe into the ‘cash-for-transfer’ charges

Chandigarh: Sad legislator Bikram Singh Majithia on Friday demanded an independent investigation into allegations of ‘cash for transfers’ made by the Minister of Cabinet Rana Gurjit Singh to the Minister of Home Affairs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Overcoming a press conference, the Akali leader said, “Surprisingly that the cabinet minister Gurjit Singh accused the minister of home bagging bribes from police officers to give them valued posts as SSP, SP and even DSP.
The accusation was that Randhawa bagged as much as Rs 2 Crore to RS 5 Crore to post SSP.
“He said the same allegations were made previously also in the case of the police commissioner.
“Now all rackets have been placed naked by one of the most senior ministers of the cabinet,” he said.
Majitha Mla said it was also surprising that instead of ordering a probe into the whole problem, the minister’s head tried to avoid it.
The main minister stepped exploring the officers who attended the cabinet meeting to leave the room and even ordered the door to be closed, he accused.
“Later, the minister’s chairman held a dinner party to put this case to rest, which itself showed that the agreement had been carried out to bury corruption and negligence,” he added.
He said the Punjab police were the second defense along the border and if it began posting officers to a sensitive post after receiving kickback, the security of the entire nation would be compromised.
MLA said this problem must be presented by the CBI or Nia as an independent probe will reveal that Randhawa, who recommends the appointment of Sikh for the leader of Justice Avtar Singh Pannu as Chair of Punjab Genco.
