Gurgaon: Municipal Corporation of the Gurugram (MCG) pilot project to monitor the presence of online sanitation workers has reached a barrier of roads almost a month after its launch in August with staff and contractors who strongly oppose it.
Under the system designed to track the presence of work and compliance with uniforms, among others, one multi-purpose health worker (MPHW) of the Civil Agency is assigned to each area (beat) to sow the number of stated sanitation workers and the actual number of workers present on the ground.
MPHW is also assigned to upload details online – photo groups of employees who are present, those who wear uniforms, the number of earthmovers, tractors and pedicab available on the site, manual registered photos are maintained, among others.
The Civic’s body states that an online system will not only ensure a full attendance of workers but also improve sanitation throughout the city.
According to UNI Sanitation employees, there are around 6,000 sanitation workers for 35 civilian wards.
Of the total, around 3,000 are on contract workers and the rest are on MCG Payroll.
The Attri Day, Commissioner with MCG (head office), told TII, that workers opposed the system to track the presence and upload them online.
“So, we have decided to delay the project for some time and hold a meeting with the unity of the employee so that the system can be continued.” The new system, said Attri, tried to ensure 100% of the presence of sanitation workers.
“Under the current manual system, we have noticed that some workers mark their presence in the register and go without doing their work.
The new system proposed to record presence twice a day through photos taken in place, without leaving room for irregularities,” Atri added.
However, Haryana, Palika Nagar Karamchari Sangh, trade unions, however, claimed that they opposed the tracking system online because they did not want an MPHW worker to maintain the examination of sanitation workers.
“Instead of outsiders come and track our presence, we want the Department of MCG sanitation employees to do this.
There are sanitation workers who have worked for the city for more than a decade.
The only request is that someone from the Sanitation Department MCG must do it, “said Naresh Malkat, Secretary of State Sangh, said.
With employee opposition, MCG may have to return to the manual list system.
Underneath, register managed attendance for sanitation staff in each knock must be signed first by the Contractor supervisor, which provides outsourcing workers, and then signed by the MCG supervisor before being sent to the sanitation inspector concerned at the end of each.
day.
Locals, meanwhile, show that MCG must introduce a system because it can ensure that sanitary workers are not only reported to work but actually do work.
LALLAL SURAJ BHOLA, United Gurugram residents of the Welfare Association (RWA), told Tii, “Civic Corporation must implement an online presence tracking system without fail.
Sanitation workers disappear after attendance marked.
It seems that they have some kind of setting with their contractors and able to escape from work .
It is reflected throughout the city – stack of garbage scattered everywhere and weeds juting out for every corner.
Applying an online system to monitor their presence is very important.
