Safety worries after fresh cracks in Dwarka e-way

Gurugram: Fresh cracks have appeared in the deck slab of the height segment under the construction of the Dwarka Expressway, sparking concerns about the possibility of repenting events that occurred in March, when most of the construction of the toll road had collapsed and injured three workers.
The crack has been witnessed in the deck slab between the 120 and 121 pillars near the Daultabad flyover.
Large cracks that ran across the slab from one end to the other had revealed iron rods and construction materials.
The National Highway Authority (NHAI) said the project contractor, Larsen & Toubro (L & T), is currently conducting a reset stimulation test to determine the power of the slab.
The cracks have been deliberately made to carry out a detailed analysis of the capacity of the power bearing slab, a senior Nhai official told Tii.
“Working in the elevated segment was postponed to get to the root of the problem that caused the collapse of one of the segments in March.
The crack we are talking about is part of our setimulation process, where some of the slabs are re-examined to analyze the distance of the iron rod and evaluate the load capacity of the load construction material, “said the official.
L & T also says this is just a “regular exercise” that is done before sending a report to NHAI for the strength of the structure.
