Kolkata: Minister of Education West Bengal Buru Buru on Friday alleged that BJP tried to “Safronise Education” by eliminating chapters on secularism in the state where the party was in power.
Basu, who was speaking with a press conference, was asked to comment on the steps of the Uttar Pradesh Government to exclude a story by Rabindranath Tagore from the school curriculum.

If they eliminate Tagore stories from the syllabus, it shows their regressive mindset.
Tagore is a secular personality as evidenced by his writing.
“Clear BJP is not comfortable with such ideology.
Therefore they continue to remove Tagore’s work, Dr.
Radhakrishnan from the school curriculum,” said Basu.
He claimed that Peddles BJP mythology as history in Gujarat textbooks and Uttar Pradesh.
Conversely, the syllabus in West Bengal Schools is all included in that talk about our pluralistic values, our international prospects, nationalism and real and actual history, the Minister added.
