Thiruvananthapuram: An internet radio ‘Sahithy Vani 1.14’, which was launched during the Covid subject to Kuncian, by city students has become a hit between listeners.
Aiming to make students spend their locking days in a creative and useful way, the radio was launched in November 2020.
Radio which began with only 14 members now has almost 120 members.
Recently, he acquired a place in an extraordinary notebook to become the first radio in the world managed by children.
The idea of internet radio run by students was first debated by Binny Sahithy, founder of Sahithy, a voluntary international organization, who is also a school radio consultant and a teacher at St Mary’s HSS Pattom.
“The idea behind the radio is to introduce a revolution among school children.
In addition to helping to develop student creativity, they learn how to express problems in the right way,” said Binny.
Alu Krishna, students of class XI Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, and station director, said radio activities have helped them to involve themselves during the locking period.
“Now we have 17 segments.
The two-hour length episode will be aired on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
and the link is sent to nearly 300 schools,” he said.
Radio is famous for its various programs that are fully prepared, presented and edited by students.
In addition to news, they also stung interesting segments about literature, interviews, music, cooking, travelog, beauty programs that introduce 14 districts and the state environment.
Class III students to XII from all countries and Malayalam students from foreign countries form members and presenter Sahithy Vani.
Aalok P Prapanch, a class XII student from HSS St Mary, who is the director of the head program, said he enjoyed being part of this radio.
