New Delhi: Indian Sports Authority (SAI) has asked 150 athletes, who receive funds under the top scheme, to submit bills and provide a UCS certificate on January 31, their fund failure will be stopped.
The deadline was set by Sai’s Mission Olympic Cell (MOC), which made a decision in a recent meeting because more than Rs 7 Crore, given to athletes under the Target Olympic Podium (Puncak) Scheme since 2014, still not counted.
According to SAI sources, there are many prominent names among athletes who have not given their bills.
“This step is needed because many top athletes have not submitted their bills.
The money belongs to the taxpayer and athletes is bound to provide details about how they use it,” said Sai Sumber to PTI.
“MOC has asked all athletes who have not submitted their bills and UC to do the same before January 31.
If they fail to do it, financial assistance in the future from the summit may be stopped.” “There are even some athletes who are part of the Rio Olympics and have retired now.
Even though reminders over and over through each national sports federation (NSFS), they have not submitted their bills, which are not ethical,” the source added.
However, the official did not reveal the name athlete.
The Sports Ministry started the peak program in 2014 and was intended to provide financial assistance to Indian Top Athletes in their preparation for the Olympics and Paralympics.
This scheme provides the support needed for possible athletes, including foreign training, international competition, training equipment and training camp in addition to Rs 50,000 monthly allowances.
The current scheme supports 104 top core group athletes in 13 sports disciplines other than the Hockey team (both men and women) and 269 development group athletes in 12 sports disciplines.
