Saint Sebastian Statue Destroyed

Coimbatore: Two unknown men have damaged St Sebastian’s statue at the Church of the Holy Tritian in Ramanathapuram here on Sunday night.
According to Ramanathapuram police, both of them came to church with two-wheeled vehicles around 10pm.
“One of them scaled up a compound wall and damaged the glass cover around the statue at the church entrance with bricks.
He also damaged the statue with bricks,” said a police officer.
When the security guard in the church rushed to the place to hear the sound, the man jumped over a compound wall and drove to the two wheels waiting for him outside.
The guard told the Church authority, who called Ramanathapuram police.
The officer said while the incident took place on a busy road, not many people were present there at that time because of the kuncian.
“We have collected CCTV recordings from the company closest and are in the process of checking them to identify the perpetrators,” he said.
