Margao: Fifteen people from Salcete lost their lives in the first nine months of this year in an accident on the road, the police record revealed.
In an accident forever 36 roads were recorded at various police stations in Salcete from January to September, 45 people were injured.
Mainsa Current Stempor Police Registered the number of highest accident cases in 13, while the lowest number of accidents reported in Colva in 4.
Eight cases of accidents registered at the Cuncolim Police Station, while Margao and Fatorda police station each scored 5 and 6 cases respectively.
15 cases of death covering four respectively booked at Colva and Cuncolim police station, two at the Margao police station, three at the Curorim Police Station and two at the Fatorda police station.
Police officers associate the high number of accidents to drive reckless, excessive and poor road conditions in various places.
Police sources say that drinking and driving cases are also increasing.
The source said that a large number of holes also contributed to the revival of accidents involving two-wheeled.

Roland Martins from Goacan, a consumer network organization, connects the high number of accidents with a lack of professional supervision in the construction of roads from the point of view of road engineering and the safety aspects of traffic.
He also emphasized the need for eliminating threats in areas that were vulnerable to accidents.
Martins, at a recent meeting with a senior police officer, has urged the police to release traffic accident data every quarter so that the causes of accidents were analyzed and the action correctly to prevent it.
The police were also urged to ensure compliance ‘Do not drink and encourage’ signages at the bar and restaurant.
