Guwahati: Alcohol sales in Guwahati increased by more than 45% on the occasion in Thursday, said Excise Officials Department.
Manobi, Excise Supervisors, Kamrup (Metro), said the city recorded alcohol sales to more than RS 2.56 Crore on Diwali.
The Excise Ministry has expected similar sales on the following day in Friday on Friday.
On average, liquor worth more than Rs 1.77 Crore for sale every day in the city.
A number of customers at the liquor outlet were seen on Thursday and on Friday.
Requests and supply of liquor began to increase on Wednesday night in the district and peaked at night diwali the following day.
According to sources, in many places the liquor store is operated until late at night on Thursday.
However, the Excise Ministry cannot identify shops.
Liquor stores, who face losses last year due to national locking, see a surge in sales since the Puja Durga celebration in October.
Meanwhile, the Exhibition Ministry of Anup Sarma official said it would take the time to collect and compile sales data from all districts and departments would be able to provide data on Mondays.
